    Executive Coaching: How It Works

Following is the sequence of steps that occur to contract for and execute the Executive Coaching Engagement.

    1) The Sponsoring Company (client organization) contacts Career Leverage on behalf of the Executive. This call is typically initiated by the Human Resources leader or the Executive's Superior. The need for coaching may be recognized by the Executive and requested voluntarily, or it may be suggested at the prompting of Human Resources or the Executive's Superior.

An Initial Consultation is established with appropriate stakeholders, including Human Resources, the Executive, and the Executive's Superior, to define the needs and goals of coaching, evaluate and establish chemistry between Coach and Executive, and map-out the preliminary scope of engagement.

    2) Contracting for the Engagement is a critical element to the success of the Executive Coaching experience. Expectations, roles, time frames, fees and policies, and desired results will be agreed upon before executing the engagement. Executive coaching engagements range from a minimum of three months to a maximum of one year. The length of the engagement is determined by the needs and goals of the Executive being coached.

    3) Use of Assessment tools and methodologies will be determined and communicated. In most cases, a 360-degree feedback process is utilized to gather data and create an appropriate, customized development plan.

    4) Periodic updates regarding the Executive Coaching process are provided to appropriate stakeholders, as agreed upon, to ensure the Coach and Executive are "on track" with stated goals and to evaluate the need for modifications to the original development plan. Confidentiality is maintained at all times concerning sessions between the Coach and Executive. Progress updates provided by the Coach communicate positive behavioral changes made by the Executive. Developmental areas for continued work will be acknowledged.

    5) Appropriate closure, with respect to the Coaching Engagement, is mutually agreed upon by the stakeholders.
